Course Objectives and student competencies:
1. Students will read challenging, above-grade-level passages, both fiction and non-fiction.
2. Students will learn new vocabulary words in the context of reading passages.
3. In the spring semester, students will benefit from a greater emphasis on writing skills, applying and reinforcing new vocabulary learned in the fall semester.
